Obituary

Mr. Charles Henry Weber, age 89, of DeLand, FL., passed away on Monday, July 9, 2012 with his wife Dolly by his side. Mr. Weber was born in Washington, D.C. to parents Henry and Maggie (Fowler) Weber.

Charles father became the Second Leader of the U.S. Marine Band (the Presidents own.). Charles love for music stemmed from the wonderful experiences he had growing up on the steps of the Capitol listening to his father play the clarinet and watching him direct the U.S. Marine Band.

Charles later became an accomplished musician playing the bass fiddle. He enjoyed playing with his church’s orchestra especially looking forward to playing The Messiah at Christmas time. He had a passion for classical music.

For many years Charles worked as photolithographer and photoengraver for Colorgraphics and The Lanman Company. He worked doing color correction on photos that later became published in magazines such as Time and Time-Life books, National Geographic, US News & World Report and other leading magazines.

Beside music, hobbies included woodcarving and sculpting. His handiwork included a Victorian lattice table, Philadelphia low boy table, Grandfather clock and sculptures of Sampson, Abraham and Isaac. Most of his woodworking was done by hand without use of any electrical tools.

Charles also enjoyed traveling with his wife and family and visited 48 continental states in the U.S. He also spent many good times camping with friends and family.

Charles loved to read and had a thirst for learning. He enjoyed a good intellectual discussion about topics ranging from politics, religion, science, art and music.

He loved the Lord with all his heart and joined the Seventh-day Adventist church at an early age. He read and studied his Bible every night without fail.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Elinor Dolly (Kruse) Weber of DeLand, FL; four daughters, Linda Marie Kent of St. George Utah; Gail Annette Linn of Potomac, Maryland; Shelley Jo Adams of DeLand, FL; Grandchildren, David Warner, Darren Kent, Christopher Kent, Tricia Terlep, Elizabeth OConnell, Michael Riley, Joshua Adams, Nicholas Adams, Zachary Snyder and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father Henry Weber and mother Maggie Fowler; his daughter Heidi Lynne Snyder; and sister Rosetta Lynch.
