

Fred Glenn Raney Jr., 68, DeLand, Florida died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Orange City, Florida. He was born November 24, 1943 in Sewanee, Tennessee to Fred Glenn and Virgie Goff Raney. Fred was a retired U.S. Civil Service software engineer for the Department of Defense at Fort Gillem in Forest Park, Georgia. Fred and his wife of 49 years, Linda, moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida in 1996, where he enjoyed the beach and surf fishing. In 2009, they moved to their home in DeLand,Florida. Fred also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and visiting with friends. Survivors include his wife, Linda Cowan Raney; 1 son - Glenn (Tia) Raney of DeLand; 2 grandsons - Mason and Evan Raney of DeLand; 1 Brother - Tommy Raney of Jackson, Georgia; 2 sisters - Jane Dodson of Jackson, Georgia and Gloria Raney of Douglasville, Georgia. Memorial Services will be 3 pm on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home with Chaplain David Meyer officiating. Following services, there will be a reception at the Signature Memories Reception Center at Deltona Memorial. Inurnment with Memorial Services will be 11 am Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Stark United Methodist Church,1097 Halls Bridge Rd., Jackson, Georgia, 30233. Flowers are gratefully being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Stark United Methodist Church building fund or cemetery fund. Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd., Orange City, Florida is in charge of services in Florida and Haisten Funeral Home, Jackson, Georgia is in charge of services in Georgia.
