Jose Antonio Marquez, 77, of Deltona, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born and raised in New York City, Jose was a proud U.S. Army veteran and a dedicated electrical engineer who spent decades lighting up one of the most iconic landmarks in the world—Rockefeller Center. He retired with pride, knowing his work was solid, just like the man himself.
Jose was the kind of man who had a tool (or three) for everything—and in different colors, just in case. If it needed fixing, he’d fix it. If you needed something, he probably already had it in the garage. His love for gadgets, building projects, and all things hands-on was only matched by his love for his family.
He was a hard-working man who took on overtime, double time, triple time—whatever it took—without ever once complaining. He did it all for his loved ones. Jose was a two-time transplant recipient and a true fighter who defied the odds and gave his family 11 more unforgettable years post-surgery. He lived every one of those days with purpose, gratitude, and that signature sense of humor that kept everyone on their toes.
Jose was happiest at home: playing cards and watching movies with his beloved wife Iris, spending time with his children—Kenneth, Lisa, his son-in-law Steve who was more of a son than an in law and Jasmine—and watching his legacy grow through his grandchildren, Richard, Kenneth Jr., and Justine, and his two great-grandchildren, Liam and Raquel.
He was a good man. A humble man. A man of quiet strength, endless generosity, and deep love. Jose never needed to say much—you just knew how much he cared by the way he showed up. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, carried forever in the hearts of those who had the honor to know and love him.
A visitation for Jose will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763. A funeral service will occur Thursday, July 3, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home.
