Mrs. Steen was born on June 13, 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Clarence and Jessie O'Brien Thurman. She was a graduate of Florida Atlantic University. She was a substitute teacher for many years. She was a member of Deltona Lakes Baptist Church, the Retired Teacher's Association and the American University Association of Women.
She is survived by two sons, John Richard Steen and Jame Frank (Cela) Steen; a brother, Clarence Thurman, Jr., two sisters, Doris Jean Lo and Thelma Almand; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday, August 24th from 10 - 11 am at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Boulevard, Orange City, FL., PH: 386-775-4260. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Reverend Jack Lowndes officiating. Burial will be in Deltona Memorial Gardens in Orange City.
