

Patricia Bonaparte went to be with our Lord on April 11, 2010. She is survived by her children, De Lisa Bonaparte, Richard Bonaparte, Anthony Bonaparte and Cherissa Bonaparte; grandchildren, Angela, Dushaun, Lanicia, Jasias, Kamal and Quincy; companion, Trevor Fleming; brothers and sisters, William Smith, Jr., Joseph Smith, Yvonne Smith, Daniel Smith, Rosie Smith, Kathy Smith and Dennis Smith and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pat was born March 2, 1949 in Bay Shore, NY, the daughter of the late William Smith, Sr. of Milledgeville, GA and the late Annie Katie Hurt of Chattanooga, TN. She graduated from the Suffolk Community College with an Associate*s Degree in Criminology. Afterwards, she started a private investigation agency.
Sometimes a tragedy can open the door to helping one find their compass in life. Patricia Bonaparte discovered that after Charles, her husband of 32 years, passed away ten years ago. It was after her husband's death, that Patricia dramatically altered her life from its focus on marriage, family and work, to making a difference in her community.
Patricia's energy and interest in having an impact in her community are endless. Over the past 10 years, Patricia has made a noticeable and positive difference in the community. Patricia was actively involved in several organizations and volunteer activities, which include the Deltona and Pine Ridge High Schools Youth Volunteer Partnership Program, Beds for Babies, the African American Museum of the Arts, the YMCA Black Achievers, Weed and Seed Spring Hill Festival, NAACP, Collaborators Not Competitors Conferences, as well as being an Adult Mentor helping youngsters with reading and writing skills in preparation for the FCAT. In addition to the above mentioned volunteer activities, Patricia had a strong commitment to the Deltona Tennis Association.
Patricia worked for Bright House Networks for 21 years. In 2007, Patricia was awarded the Bright House Networks, Central Florida Division *Crystal House Award* for her extraordinary commitment to the community, strong sense of philanthropy and social responsibility and making a significant difference where she lived and worked. The *Crystal House Award* recipient is nominated by fellow co-workers.
Patricia Bonaparte emphasized the importance of a good education. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up, *Patricia Bonaparte Memorial Fund.* The scholarship fund will award a Volusia County High School male and female senior who have maintained a 3.0 GPA and have displayed model character and involvement in extracurricular or co-curricular activities
