She was born in Elgin, Illinois on May 15, 1938 daughter of Lyle C. Rockwell and Helen L. Jay. Pat was married to Fred L. Thurman on January 13, 1962 until his passing in 2015.
Pat moved to New Smyrna Beach, Lexington Place Independent Living in April of 2025 from Deltona. Her early career was as a bank teller and a stay at home mom. She loved to travel and take tours all over the United States and create beautiful scrapbooks of each trip.
With a generous heart, Pat loved her family; she was an active Grandmother, who would seek out memorable experiences to share. As a proficient seamstress she enjoyed teaching her grandchildren her enjoyment for sewing and crafting through the years. She could set a beautiful table and always created personalized birthday themed celebrations for the grandchildren. Pat had an innate gift of all things creativity. She especially loved Christmas and would work tirelessly on the perfect holiday setting with decorations, gifts, and food. Pat appreciated reading biographies, watching documentaries, a challenging jigsaw puzzle, and playing BINGO at Lexington Place.
We rejoice that Pat had a solid faith and trust in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Pat was survived by her two sons Jeffrey M. Thurman (Bonnie) and Philip P. Thurman (Donna); and her four grandchildren: Rebekah Shady, Ashley Powers, Elizabeth Thurman, and Paul Thurman; along with five great grandchildren.
Pat will be remembered for her gentle spirit, love for her family, her creative artistic mastery, and driven kindhearted spirit that was always ready to help and make life better for others.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Lexington Place staff and residents for their support, and for their love for Pat. The family is also grateful for the empathy and expertise of doctors and nurses at the Advent Health NSB ER & ICU; and finally to the compassionate care of the VITAS Hospice Team for their love and dignity showed to Pat in her final days.
