

Richard was born in North Hampton, Massachusetts on May 13, 1929, the son of Leon and Stella Lavallee, one of fourteen children. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had been stationed in Germany. He was a supervisor for Uniroyal Tire Company for many years. Richard married his first wife, Lorraine in 1947 and they raised four children. Lorraine died in 1986 after thirty-nine years of marriage.
After moving to Florida in 1986, Richard became active in the C.O.P. program, where he met his second wife of 17 years, Nina. He was also active in the Meals on Wheels program and was an elementary school crossing guard in DeBary until he retired this past summer. Richard enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox.
Richard is survived by his wife Nina, three daughters, Stella (Peter) D’Angelo of DeLand, FL and Sharon (Edward) Dupre and Darlene (David) Hickson both of Florence, MA and a son, Richard Lavallee, Jr. also of Massachusetts; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He also is leaving a step-daughter, Kitty and step-son, Hal and their families.
There will be a Gathering of Friends on Wednesday, January 4th from 3 - 4 pm at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Boulevard, Orange City, FL., PH: 386-775-4260. Memorial Services will be held at 4:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Lisa Degrenia, pastor of the Communty United Methodist Church of DeBary officiating.
