Richard A. Swanson

He was born in Warwick, Rhode Island on November 11, 1928 a son to the late Allen and Phoebe Anthony Swanson. In his younger years, he served in the United States Army. Thereafter he spent his career as a masonry worker. Around 1986 he and his beloved wife Dorothy moved to Florida.

Richard was a member of the Manchester Masonic Lodge of RI, he enjoyed retirement as an active member of the Deltona Rotary, playing golf, watching his favorite teams like the Patriots, Boston Braves, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins to name a few and he loved listening to Gospel music and watching the old Westerns.

Richard and Dorothy traveled a multiple of times to Hawaii, deemed their special place. But, most of all, he cherished conversations with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren either by phone or Facetime.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Dorothy Crompton Swanson; a son, Allen and his wife Marylou; a daughter, Elizabeth Moore and her husband, Gary; 5 grandsons, and 7 great-grandchildren; a sister Marilyn Hopper and her husband Doug in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. As well as his loving Florida adopted family, Bob and Genny Chywski; their daughter, her husband and 3 children.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by a sister; Ethel Bennett.

Services will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, Rhode Island at a future date.
