

Claiborne “Clay” S. Sessoms, age 83, passed away December 12, 2012. He was born in Durham, NC and had lived in Orange Park, Florida for 50 years. Mr. Sessoms joined the US Navy and retired after 21 years of service, then transferred to the Fleet Reserve Branch 91, in 1969. He was a member of DAV, Chapter 38 for 30 years, a life member of the VFW 7909 and the Masonic Lodge #267. He was a member of the River City Campers and attended the last camping trip, November 2012, which they gave him a surprise birthday party. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Smith Sessoms in 2007. Survivors include 4 daughters Ramona Roewe (Fred), Debra Johnson (Ronnie), Juanita Blackwell and Wanda Hayes (George), sister Edna Mabry, 5 grandchildren, August, Melissa, Kimberly, Amanda and Jon Tyler and 6 great-grandchildren, Ricky, Casey, LesLee, Shiloh, Kyle, and Destiny. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, FL with Rev. David Tarkington officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held in Jacksonville Memory Gardens.
