
He leaves behind his daughter, Jane (Cole) Merritt; his son Edward Cole; his sisters, Selma (Cole) Miller and Frances (Cole) Bailey; his cousin, C.H. Miller; four grandchildren, Taylor, Cole, Paris and Austin; and many long-time friends.
Born in Douglas, SC, the son of David and Susan (Burgess) Cole, he was the second youngest of two brothers, George Cole and Jacob (Jake) Cole; and seven sisters, Inez (Cole) Brown ,Mary (Cole) Rush ,Eula (Cole) Ruppait ,Ada (Cole) Ervin ,Kathleen (Cole) Davis, Selma and Frances.
In his early years, Mr. Cole grew up in Turbeville,SC helping his family on their farm and attending school. After serving with the
Navy, Mr. Cole made his home in Jacksonville, Fl. He owned a local grocery store as a young man and eventually became a prominent business owner, managing multiple rental properties and starting Cole Construction, Inc. and Coles Mobile Homes Sales. He took pride in his businesses and had much success for over 40 years in the Jacksonvile area.
Mr. Cole met his wife, Barbara (Story) Cole, in Jacksonville,Fl where they were married in 1974. Mr. Cole had a passion for flying and could often be found flying his Cessna airplane out of Herlong Airport off of Normandy Blvd. He loved to be outdoors and admired the beauty of nature.
David Cole will always be remembered for his dedication to hard work and providing for his family, friends and community. He was a loyal husband, wonderful father, loving grandfather and great friend.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 10 at 2 o'clock, at Horsebranch church in Turbeville,SC, followed by burial at Thomas Cemetery in Olanta, South Carolina.
