He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Derringer-Luostari (George), granddaughter Angela Klauk (Robb), grandson Brent Derringer, great-grandson, Christian Luostari, Brother, Herschel P. Stalvey, and extended family and friends.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Buford Stalvey in 2003.
Edward was born on May 27, 1921 in New Smyrna, Florida, raised in Jacksonville, and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School.
He was a WWII Veteran who served in the US Army from 1941 to 1945 achieving the rank of Sergeant; stationed in Alaska, Galveston and Key West as part of the 721st Coast Artillery Battery protecting the US borders.
Edward relocated his family to Tallahassee in 1963 where he worked for the State of Florida Department of Revenue. After retiring in 1983, he and Carolyn moved to South Florida to be closer to their grandchildren.
He pursued many activities and hobbies which included oil painting, golf and obtaining his private pilot’s license. Edward was also an Amateur Radio Operator “WB4JWZ” earning his General License and assisting families in locating loved ones during several natural disasters.
Edward was a Member of Riverside Masonic Lodge No. 266 and a 50 year Member of the Tallahassee Scottish Rite. He was also a Past Worthy Patron, Order of the Eastern Star of Florida, Tallahassee Chapter No. 119, and Advisory Board Member, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Tallahassee Assembly No. 64.

Family will receive friends from 10-11 AM with funeral Services to follow at 11 AM Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERMEAD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL with Pastor Kirk Crocco officiating.
