Born on September 15, 1951, in Queens, New York, to the late Marilyn (Martel) and Clifford Miller, Ellen embodied the grit and spirit of her hometown. She was a woman of moxie, with a quick wit and an unyielding determination that defined her life. As a child, her family moved to Jacksonville, and she graduated from Forrest High School, class of 1970. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she lived every day with the unwavering purpose of loving and supporting them.
For 38 wonderful years, Ellen was the devoted wife of Ben Higginbotham, with whom she built a life rooted in love, laughter, and steadfast support.
She was a proud mother to Bobby (Stephanie), Lisa, Erika (KT), and Veena (Skip) and a loving Nana to Brandon, Justin, Haley, Jacob, Jackson, Alec, Dario, Tommi, Kyla, Ben, David, Deagan, and Charlie. She was also a delighted Great-Nana to Nora, Milo, Grayson, Declan, Celia, Liam and Saige. She also loved her sweet dachshund, Aries, who always enjoyed snuggling with Nana.
Her life will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, located at 127 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32073.
