Petty Officer First Class Jacob “Jake” Carlin Spangler, 38, passed away September 9, 2018 at his home in Orange Park, Florida. He was born February 13, 1980 in Alexandria, Louisiana and attended Holy Savior Menard High School, Alexandria Senior High School, and Northwestern State University. Jake joined the United States Navy in 1999 and served until the time of his death. Jake is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Lindsey Spangler; 3 children, daughters Kayla and Bailey, and son Caleb; mother, Pat Carlin Spangler; father and step-mother, Gary and Darlene Spangler; brother, Eric Spangler; and sisters Danielle Cox and Nikki Crain. He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, J. C. and Adelaide Carlin; paternal grandparents, Jake and Maye Spangler; uncles Steve Carlin and Mike Spangler and aunt Debbie Womack. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon with a funeral service to follow at 1 PM Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERMEAD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Blanding Blvd Orange Park, Florida 32073. A Military Memorial services will be held Thursday September 20, 2018 for military staff and family at JACKSONVILLE NAS. A private graveside service will be held on October 6, 2018 in Pineville, LA at Greenwood Cemetery with a memorial service at 2 PM at The Pentecostals of Alexandria Church at 2817 Rapides Avenue, Alexandria, LA 71301.
