James, “Jim” and affectionately known by the family as “Pap” was born in 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Dormont High School, Jim enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. Shortly thereafter, Jim began his career with CSX Transportation which brought the family to the Jacksonville area. Jim retired from CSX after 42 years. Jim was a member of the BPOE Elks where he often played Santa. Jim was active in his church at St. Catherines Catholic Church where he often volunteered.
Jim was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan known for his sense of humor. Jim prided himself with his beautiful family by spending time in his backyard cooking on the grill for everyone while family enjoyed the pool.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Grace of 56 years, and his five children, Anna (Muldoon), Patricia (Fidurski), Diana (Kerner), Frank Cararie (Shannon) and Gina (Punsky) (Robert), twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held for Jim on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 11:00am at St. Catherines Catholic Church, 1649 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park, FL 32073.
