Louis R. Diaz, 58, passed away July 1, 2019 at his home in Orange Park, FL. He was born August 22, 1960 in Bronx, New York, the son of Elizabeth Quinones and Atanacio Diaz, who are both deceased. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, class of 1979. He attended Manhattan College before joining the U.S Navy. Louis served in the U.S. Navy from October 1982-January 1991. Louis met his wife, Kenda, in August of 1987 while they were both stationed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They married a year later in August 1988. Once out of the Navy, he began his career in the insurance industry, where he would work for the next 27 years. He began his insurance career in 1991 at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Philadelphia. In September 1992, Louis and his wife, Kenda, moved to Jacksonville, FL where he began working for Mass Mutual. Louis finished his degree at Jones College where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. The insurance companies that Louis worked for during his 27 years of being in his career include Principle, Av Med, Humana, Aetna, Knights of Columbus, and Modern Woodmen of America. For the past five years, Louis worked for United Healthcare, where he had his own Medicare Business. Louis was bilingual and enjoyed serving the Hispanic Community. His achievements include being #1 Sales Representative for various companies. The insurance industry was Louie’s passion, he enjoyed helping his clients. He often commented that he never felt like he was working because he loved his job so much. Louis lived for and loved his wife and three daughters. He was their biggest supporter. He was a loving husband and an amazing father. His girls will have him in their hearts forever. Louis also had a Yorkie, Lola he bought for his daughters. Lola misses him dearly. Since he grew up in New York, Louis was a fan of all New York teams. He loved the Yankees, the Knicks, the Giants, and especially the Rangers. He played many sports including hockey, baseball, basketball, and football. He has a love for music, he loved the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. He also loved history and loved watching movies. He enjoyed playing the guitar, and the drums. Louis first began playing instruments by teaching himself, and later began attending lessons for piano, guitar and drums. He practiced his guitar daily and recently began writing songs. He enjoyed playing his songs and instruments for his family and friends. Louis is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Quinones, and his father, Atanacio DIaz. Louis is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Kenda Diaz, and three daughters, Kaylyn, Savannah, and Alaina. His sister, Arlene Cintron-Glasthal and her three children, Christian, Julian, and Kiahni. Louis is also survived by his many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, mother-in-law, Ruth Elliott and father-in-law, Kenneth Elliott. His three brother-in-law’s and three nieces and two nephews, as well as three great-nephews.
The Viewing will be held at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home in Orange Park, FL from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Middleburg, FL. Burial Services will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Paul Elliott, Shannon Elliott, Israel Castro JR., Alex Castro, David Knapp, and Daniel Burdetsky.
