

Lydia P. Simpelo peacefully passed away, February 11, 2021 in her family’s home in Fleming Island, FL. Lydia was born in General Trias, Cavite in the Republic of the Philippines in 1930. She and her twin sister were the oldest of eight siblings. After growing up in the Cavite, Lydia lived in San Francisco, San Diego, Bellingham WA and Naval Station Argentia, Newfoundland in Canada. In 1979, Lydia fulfilled her dream of becoming a U.S. Citizen. Eventually Lydia moved to and become a resident of Pensacola, FL for 33 years. She was an active member of St Mary’s Catholic Church and loved praying the rosary. She also loved sewing, cooking, crafting and gardening. She and her husband later moved to Fleming Island, Florida to be close to their daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. While living in Fleming Island, Lydia perfected growing roses and orchids. She enjoyed listening to music in her water view lanai with her husband. Lydia was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Constancio Simpelo. She is survived by her daughter, Gigi, Son-in-law, Mark and granddaughter, Stephanie, along with her brothers Marcario Junior and Maximo and sister Nanie in the San Francisco Bay area. She is preceded in death by her sister Ofelia and her twin sister, Aurora. She is also survived by her sister Norma and Sollie in Cavite. She will always be remembered as a devout Catholic, fantastic cook, caring wife, mother, sister and loyal friend. A private graveside service will be held Thursday, February 18th at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida.
