Peggy was born on December 5, 1939, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to the late William and Leona O’Neill. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Peggy was the heart of her family and a constant source of love, strength, and support.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, James “Bill” Aldrich; sons, Bill Aldrich (Anna), Joe Aldrich (Edith), and John Aldrich (Kelly); siblings, Daniel O’Neill (Nancy), Eileen Shannon (Ed), and Carol Gnojewski (Len); 11 loving grandchildren, Monica Lucero, Amanda Dowdy (Justin), Jace Bollinger (Krystal), Melanie Guerra (Chase), Zach Aldrich, Noelle Chambers (Chris), Taylor Aldrich, Kyle Boston (Caroline), Rachael Miller (Codie), George Boston, and Julia Aldrich; 6 great-grandchildren, Nathan Dowdy, Landon Dowdy, Ansleigh Dowdy, Charlotte Chambers, Leona Guerra, and Dansby Bollinger.
Peggy’s generous spirit and profound devotion to her family created a home rich in warmth, faith, and love. Her devotion transformed ordinary gatherings into extraordinary celebrations, making every holiday special and welcoming. From being a den mother for Cub Scouts, to team mom for all the sports, Peggy always made sure her family knew they were loved and supported.
With a passion for all types of card games, Peggy would play and win at any opportunity. She loved baking and especially enjoyed making cakes for all the Armed Services Birthdays at the VFW. When not traveling around the world with Bill, Peggy filled her days walking in the mall, painting, sewing and quilting, but never missed her Saturday mornings at garage sales.
Peggy’s love for her family was profound, and her legacy will live on through the lives she touched. As we bid farewell, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
