Mrs. M.E. (Myke) Isenberg passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 in Orange Park, Florida. She was born on September 3, 1932 in Johnson City, New York to Peter and Winifred Conomikes. She was the middle of four sisters and one brother. She was raised in upstate New York where she went to school and worked in her family's restaurant. Her three daughters Joan Marie, Penny Ann, and Conni Lynn were born in the same hospital she was born in. She moved to Florida in 1957 to raise her three girls. In 1963, she met and married the love of her life, Harry "Ike" Isenberg. They raised their family between Jacksonville, Florida and Cherry Point, North Carolina. She loved to play the piano and sing in the choir of her church, Oak Crest United Methodist. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, CWI-CP of Jacksonville, American Legion Auxiliary, Fleet Reserve Auxiliary, the Lakeshore Women of the Moose, and the Military Officers Association of America. She spent twelve years volunteering at Orange Park Medical Center.
Most importantly, she was a loving mother, grandma, and Gigi to three children, eleven grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Harry M. Isenberg, USMC; her parents; her siblings; one daughter, Penny A. Midgett; and her son-in-law, David A. Smolder.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead, 127 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL 32073. The family will receive friends one hour prior beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Jacksonville Memory Gardens.
Upon her passing, she wished to leave an "Afterglow". "I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one. I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun; Of happy memories that I leave when life is done."
