

Peter George Dancy, 80, of Elkton, Florida, passed away on April 11, 2026. Born on August 8, 1945, Peter will be remembered as a compassionate, devoted, hard-working, kind-hearted, thoughtful, generous, and humorous man who brought steady care and warmth to those around him.
Peter was the son of Joseph Andrew Dancy and Lydia Ramos. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Dawn Birnbaum (Glen Birnbaum), Jennifer Cowan (David Cowan), Peter Dancy (Jenna Dancy), and Robert Dancy. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Gordon Russell (Debb Finley), Stephanie Dreizler (John Dreizler), Sam Cowan, Coralie Dancy, Remi Dancy, and River Dancy; and by his great-grandchildren: Liliana Russell, Colt Dreizler, and Millie Dreizler. Peter is further survived by his siblings: Christine Dancy, Candy Hill, and Deborah DeHay.
Peter found joy in the simple, meaningful pleasures of life. He loved playing pool, and he had a special appreciation for muscle cars. He enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie of poker and chess, and he was known as a jokester who could bring laughter into everyday moments. He loved his dogs and took pride in working with them and training them. Time spent with family and friends mattered deeply to him, including many games of “mow mow” shared together.
Peter also cherished the beauty of the world around him—especially watching the sunset and being near the ocean. He was very active and always had a project underway, approaching each task with energy and purpose. Above all, Peter was someone people could count on; he was always there to help others, offering his time and support with quiet generosity.
Peter’s life leaves a lasting imprint of kindness, dedication, and good humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
