

Richard Ward Cobb, 73, passed away March 4, 2016. He was born December 7, 1942 in Daytona, Florida and resided in Orange Park since 1968. He graduated from St. Leo College Preparatory School (1960), Florida State University (B.A. 1964) and University of Florida College of Law (J.D. 1967). His career highlights include Assistant State Attorney for Clay County (1970-1974), Assistant Clay County School Board Attorney (1969-1979), Clay County Zoning Board Attorney (1970-1974) and more than 40 years in private practice, including the last several years in partnership with his oldest daughter, Mary. He was the first President of the Clay County Bar Association, to which he had been a member since 1973. He was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church in Orange Park, where over the years he served in many capacities, including Senior Warden, member of the Board of Grace Episcopal Day School, and as a member of the Vestry. He was also a long-time member of the Orange Park Lions Club, for which he served as its President several times. He was a lifelong fan of FSU Football, the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Mr. Cobb is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary S. Cobb, and daughters, Mary C. Cobb and Carolyn Kiser (Edward). A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Grace Episcopal Church in Orange Park, FL with reception to follow at Benedict Hall.
