

Ron is survived by his wife and best friend of 50 years, Barbara Tope, his daughters Nicole Dawkins (Mark Dawkins) and Leigh Ann Wilson (Robert Wilson). He was a very proud Papa to his four grandchildren; Caitlin Dawkins, Kaia Dawkins, Bodhi Wilson and Addison Wilson. Ron is further survived by his brother Kenneth Tope (and family), and his sister Christina Kelly (and family).
Ron was preceded in death by his Father Zacarias Tope, his mother Geraldine Tope, his brother Gregory Tope and his son Stephen Tope.
Ron served honorably in the US Navy from 1966 to 1973. Ron was a veteran of the Vietnam War. For his service, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. Ron was extremely proud of the time he spent serving his country. In his later years he was a beloved School custodian at Ridgeview High School, where he was fondly referred to as “Mr. Ron”. Ron loved being part of the Clay County School Board family. He was a role model and mentor to many young men and women.
In his free time, he and Barbara loved to travel and visit their grandkids. He attended every graduation, tee-ball game, karate tournament, cello recital, and soccer game. His unwavering love and care for his family was inspiring. Ron’s passing will be felt very deeply by all who knew him; whether that be as a husband, a Dad, a Papa, a brother, an Uncle or a friend.
A memorial service will be held in Ron’s honor Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 11:00 A.M at HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERMEAD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, FL 32073; procession to follow. Ron will be laid to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery- Lane 3, 4083 Lannie Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32218 at 1:30 PM
