Victor A. Groner, 72, passed away unexpectedly on December 6, 2020. He was born in Jacksonville, FL and is predeceased by parents W.D. (Jerry) and Geraldine Groner. He retired in January of 1997 from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office after serving time in various divisions including the first K9 Unit. He was a well seasoned officer and proudly kept active in many Fraternal Order of Police activities, locally and nationally. After retirement, Vic trained as a Master Gardener and became an Urban Garden Assistant with the University of Florida / Duval County Extension. He enjoyed wood working, gardening, NASCAR, traveling with family, and his Georgia Bulldogs.
He is survived by his loving wife Becky; two daughters Shawna Hamner and Ashland Groner (Jeremy DiMari); one son Brian (Allie Travers); two grandchildren Lauren Hamner and William Groner; one sister Dawn Short; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Harvest Time Sanctuary, 4502 Old Middleburg Rd N. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service at 10:00 a.m. Committal services will be held at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, Orange Park, Florida.
