It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Yoel Gerardo Lopez de Armas, a devoted husband, beloved son, and cherished member of both his family and community. Yoel passed away on June 11, 2025, just days after his 37th birthday.
Born on June 3, 1988, in Nuevitas, Cuba, to Armando Roberto Lopez Betancourt and Lina Mercedes de Armas Rodriguez, Yoel grew up with a deep appreciation for his roots and a strong sense of family. His upbringing instilled in him a lifelong love for Cuban culture—its music, traditions, and the warm, resilient spirit of its people. Professionally, Yoel dedicated his life to caring for others as a dentist, bringing not only skill but compassion to his work. He had a gentle touch, a listening ear, and an unwavering commitment to helping his patients feel seen and cared for. His integrity and warmth touched countless lives. Yoel’s heart, however, was most fully expressed in the love he shared with his wife, Amenis A. Pena Sanchez. Their bond was one of mutual respect, laughter, and enduring devotion. Together, they built a life rich with joy, support, and shared dreams. He also remained deeply devoted to his family—those near and far—whom he uplifted with kindness, generosity, and unwavering loyalty.
To know Yoel was to be reminded of life’s most important values: love, family, culture, and service. He will be remembered for his easy smile, his infectious laughter, his pride in his heritage, and the quiet strength with which he navigated life’s challenges. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact of Yoel’s presence will be felt for generations. He lives on in the hearts of all who knew him and in the legacy of love and compassion he leaves behind.
A celebration of Yoel’s life will be held with family and friends, honoring the beauty he brought into the world and the light he continues to shine.
Descansa en paz, Yoel. Siempre te llevaremos con nosotros.
