Mary R Cernava

Born on March 12, 1938, in Decatur, IL, Mary was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother. She shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Joseph George Cernava.

Mary was the proud mother of three children: Sandra Stanek, Jackie Harrigan, and Joseph Michael Cernava. She found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to Ryan, Katherine, and Megan Harrigan, and Foster and Elly Stanek.

Mary dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker and mother. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering love shaped the lives of those closest to her. She will be remembered for her deep devotion to her loved ones, and the gentle presence she brought to every room.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and enduring kindness.

A visitation for Mary will be held Sunday, September 7, 2025 from 2:00pm to 6:00 pm at Orland Funeral Home, 9900 W. 143rd Street in Orland Park, IL. A morning visitation will occur the following day, Monday, September 8, 2025 from 9:00am to 10:00am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 177 Luther Lane, Frankfort, IL. A funeral mass will take place Monday, September 8, 2025 at 10am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 177 Luther Ln, Frankfort, IL 60423. Burial will follow the funeral service at 12:00pm at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421.
