He is survived by his wife Alice Jean Sintef, his brother Arthur (Karen), brother August, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and godchildren.
Alan was born November 30, 1964, in Plainview NY. He graduated Plainview High school in 1982, where he began his education in aviation. Alan began his career path in the aviation world when he took a job in the pantry at TWA in 1984. Alan worked his way up in the kitchen and moved onto building maintenance and ramp. Consumed by the desire to work on the planes he saw everyday Alan would return to school to finish his “A&P” license and begin his career working on those very planes. Alan would truly earn his nickname “jet-doc”. His fascination with those jets would take him so many places in life! Alan worked his way to lead technician at TWA and departed when they closed their doors. Alan started his journey with JetBlue which took him from New York to Orlando with stops in South American and Washington DC along the way.
Little did Alan know that TWA pantry would bring him the great fortune of meeting the future love of his life. Alan met Alice Jean in 1985, they started dating in 1988 and were wed on May 21, 1989. Alan and AJ had many fur babies they loved greatly: Ramp Rat, Dodger, Daisy, Sam, and Jax.
Alan loved the sound of a jet engine overhead, the smell of the salty air from the balcony of a Disney cruise ship, and living out the Peter Pan philosophy refusing to grow up. You could find Alan any given day walking around the Disney parks with his nieces and nephews, playing Xbox with people from all over the world, or passing the time watching Star Wars or Phineas and Ferb with the kids and Jax by his side. Alan would travel far and wide for a good car show, he much appreciated the beauty of the American muscle car.
Alan tried to tell the world he was “Grumpy” dwarf, but the truth to the matter, he was a big softie. Alan always lent a helping hand and came to many people’s rescue. Alan always showed up when you needed him, he was always in your corner.
Alan was a true patriot who took great pride in his country. He flew his flag proudly (fighting everyone who stood in the way of doing so), and always showed great admiration for our veterans.
Alan will be greatly missed by his family, friends, co workers, and Jax. We know you’re smiling above where all the rides have no lines, your summer will never end, your aircrafts are all return to service, and it’s always your “Friday”.
