Alejandro Lopez Perez, 80, of Orlando, Florida passed away November 16, 2014. He was born on May 14, 1934 in Havana, Cuba. He served in the Cuban Army before 1959, in the Artillery Division for several years. He was a political prisoner for two years from 1959 to 1961. He was married to his wife Guillermina on February 14, 1961. On May 14, 1980, he, his wife and son left Cuba during the Mariel Boat Lift. They arrived in Key West, Florida. They immediately settled in Gretna, Louisiana. In 1990, they moved to Orlando, Florida. Alejandro established a large group of friends that shared many stories and their love of political issues, whether it was Cuban or USA related. Alejandro was preceded in death by his wife on February 15, 1999. He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Alejandro R. and Nancy Lopez of Orlando, Florida; granddaughter, Natalie A. Lopez, also of Orlando, Florida; sister, Nuncia Rodriguez of New Orleans, Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews.
