Ana Iris DeLeon Carrillo died on April 22, 2023 at the age of 82 in Kissimmee, FL at Amber Lake Assisted Living. She was born and raised in the city of Naguabo in the Parcelas of Daguao, Puerto Rico. She leaves behind her 2 adult children, Maria and Ignacio, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson.
Ana Iris has been living with her daughter Maria and son-in-law Hector for almost 18 years. The last 8 months of her life she resided at Amber Lakes Assisted Living Facility.
Ana Iris raised Maria and Ignacio as a single parent. She had always been a hard worker, had a 9th grade education but very wise and financially skilled. She worked 25 years for and retired from the University of Rochester (UOR) as a housekeeper. Before her work at the UOR, her previous jobs included seamstress, assembly-line work and other odd jobs. She was a great caregiver, in first caring for her children then caring for her parents until their death and later caring for her ill husband until his death.
She was diagnosed with Dementia in 2011 and the illness accelerated rapidly in the last 6 years. The illness became more intense when she moved with her daughter and husband from San Diego, California to St. Cloud, Florida in March 2020, and the Pandemic did not help matters. With the support and assistance from the facility manager Edith, Amber Lake became her home. Her children Maria and Ignacio were allowed to visit as much as needed to provide personal care and companionship.
Ana Iris will always be remembered for her love of gardening, music and dance. Her smile and joyful spirit will always be in the minds and hearts of her family and friends.
A visitation for Ana will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 13001 South John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32837. A funeral service will held Monday, May 1, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 700 Brown Chapel Road, St. Cloud, FL 34769. Burial Will Be at a later date at Cementerio El Duque in Naguabo, Puerto Rico
