Ann Elizabeth English, 78, passed from this world peacefully on December 8. Ann was born in 1946 in Orwin, PA to Eva and Joseph Foster. She graduated from Porter Tower High School and went on to attend Central Penn Business School to become a medical secretary. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Edward English, and they were married for 45 years before he passed away. Ann and Ed lived many places due to his work: Ohio, New Jersey, and finally Hollywood, Florida, where she lived for over 36 years before moving to Orlando to be with her son and his family.
Ann’s faith was extremely important to her, and she was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America most of her life. She attended All Saints Lutheran Church regularly and was involved in many church-related activities, including packing meals for those in need on the weekends. She attended multiple Synodic meetings with the Florida/Bahamas Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and was very involved in her church’s women’s group as well.
Ann’s greatest love was her family. She was so incredibly proud of her son Rick and worked with him for many years in his CPA practice. She was so happy to live closer to her grandchildren, Alex and Allison, and loved spending as much time with them as possible.
Ann was a caregiver as well; she assisted her father towards the end of his life, and also was a source of great comfort for her daughter-in-law, Christina while she battled cancer. She was also a rock for Rick, Alex, and Allison when Christina passed away.
Ann loved to be Grandma to anyone who needed her. She worked several years at the Creative Beginnings Preschool in Hollywood, and loved those children like her own. She adopted all of her grandchildren’s friends and they were always welcome to stop by – any time, night or day - and be fed her delicious cooking, work on a puzzle, play a game, or use her back patio for cigars and drinks.
Ann was smart, adventurous, funny, stern, loving, outspoken, and delightful. If you were in her circle, you wanted for nothing, and she never asked for anything in return. The world has a very large Ann-shaped hole where she used to be.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Eva Foster, her beloved husband Ed, her daughter in-law Christina English, and her niece Kristi Foster. Those who have become her legacy and are left to miss her terribly are her son Richard (Karen), grandchildren Alexander (Hunter), Allison, her brother Joseph R Foster (Barb). She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 21 at 1:00 PM at All Saints Lutheran Church, 12601
Balcombe Rd, Orlando, FL 32837.
Memorial gifts can be sent to: All Saints Lutheran Church, 12601 Balcombe Rd, Orlando, FL 32837.
