My accomplishments, A Poem by Bobby C. Davis, 2007A meteor crosses the starlit sky,Like the life of man as it passes by?The swiftness of time brings only dismay,Was it a moment? An hour? A day? What was the sum of my life on earth? Was it something to be counted? What was it worth?Yes, I did great things. I will recount them here. Some are not obvious. Some were quite clear.I was a great warrior. Many battles I fought. Not against arrows, but deep inner thoughts. When the way was cloudy and victory unsure,A voice said to me, "son I AM here." My reply, sometimes muted, but completely sincere,Said, "you are my Captain, and I shall not fear."I accumulated great wealth, not silver or gold,But salvation, my family, and friendships untold.I shared as I could, my gifts sometimes small,Not like my great Savior who gave Us His all.A cup of cold water given in His nameAdds more to my treasure than jewels or fame.I was a great orator, but not with my words. My life told a story when my voice was unheard.I sometimes said a prayer to an audience of one,Lord help me to live the life You have won.My great intellect came from one book. Some careful reading was all that it took.I asked Him for wisdom to know what He meant.'Twas "I'll give you a savior if you will repent." When my life is over, judgement must come,A fearful event if you don't have the Son.He will stand beside me and plead my case,Saying "Father, forgive him, he took Me by faith."I have shared my thoughts. It is all up to you.Take Him by faith and He will plead for you, too! When my life is over, judgment must come,A fearful event if you don’t have the Son.He will stand beside me and plead my case,Saying “Father, forgive him, he took Me by faith.”I have shared my thoughts. It is all up to you.Take Him by faith and He will plead for you, too!Tempus fugit, futura incerta est.
