

Life Reflections of Cherry Nixon Owens Cherry was born on April 6, 1935 in Birmingham, Alabama to the union of Nathaniel and Beatrice Lewis. She confessed Christ at the age of nine years old and joined The First Born Church of Living God, Inc. She has served as a member, a Sunday School Teacher, a Church Missionary, and Pastor. Cherry obtained a Bachelor of Theology Degree from the First Born Church of Living God, Inc. Seminary Bible College in Waycross, Georgia. Her early teachings were under the leadership of Bishop Echos and Mother Dempsey. Cherry was blessed with the gift of songs. Some favorites were: “It’s Another Days Journey”, “Through The Years I Keep On Toiling”, “I’m A Soldier In The Army Of The Lord”. We will miss her and her God given gifts into eternity. On Sunday, February 26, 2017, Cherry made her transition from this earthly life to a heavenly place where all is love-filled and most fitting for the exemplary woman, with a soul that embodied the very essence of love, passion, and grace. Her daughter, Geraldine Nixon (Orlando, Florida) preceded her death on February 9th, 2016 with Glen Haven Memorial Park as her final resting place. Cherry is survived by two daughters, Brenda Nixon (Orlando, Florida), Diane Lundy (Atlanta, Georgia); her son, Ray Nixon (New York); one sister, Alberta Motley (Clearwater, Florida); two grandchildren, Maurice and Derrik Lundy and three great grandchildren, Taylor, Mekai, and Derico (Atlanta, Georgia); and a host of nieces and nephews who will forever remember her voice and smile.
