It is with sadness and a heavy heart that the family of Connie Norberg Strohm announce her passing. Connie passed on March 28th 2026 at the age of 68. She resided in Orlando, Fl.
Born in Norwalk, California in 1957 to Ronald and Valora Norberg, Connie started her childhood running and playing in the wide open spaces of her family’s horse farm. When she turned 2 years old, she was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. This disease led to a life of endless medical procedures and a decline in her ability to walk, eventually putting her in an electric wheelchair for most of her adult life. Through all of this, she never missed a beat.
Connie was strong and undeterred by all of these challenges and lived her life to the fullest. As a child, she loved going to the drive-In movies with her family and making her brother play Barbies with her. Later in life she loved to shop at the mall with her Mom and have lunch at the food court. The next day, they would go back to the mall, return whatever they previously bought, have lunch at the food court and repeat. She loved to buy hats and boots.
Connie had a passion for making crafts, often gifting self made Christmas and Birthday cards. She also made cherished crafted presents for family and friends such as Christmas ornaments and decorated photos. Connie owned a kiln which she used to fire pottery. And totally out of the blue, she once competed in a Miss Florida Wheelchair pageant, where she won runner up.
Connie’s greatest fulfillment came when she connected with Canine Companions. Her service dog, Brian, provided her a life of greater independence and unconditional love. She gladly devoted many volunteer hours by doing demonstrations with Brian at elementary schools, Senior Living facilities and by attending several Canine Companion graduations, cheering on new dog owners. She and Brian became very involved and recognized in the community.
Connie married the love of her life, Rodney, on 12-1-1984. They met at a wheelchair bowling league, fell in love and were married for 41 years. They loved their dogs, Jessie, Milo and Brian. They enjoyed their beautiful home on the lake.
Connie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Fred “Rodney” Strohm who passed away in June of 2025, and by her Father and Mother, Ron and Val Norberg.
Connie is survived by her brother Victor Norberg, her sister-in-law, Beverly Norberg and their 4 children: Sydney Slavens (Nick), Ryan Norberg (Shelbey), Paige Norberg and Eric Norberg. Also survived by Lauri Stone Albertson, best friend, cousin and life long companion. Special and loving mentions to Vic and Bev, also to Connie’s cousins Dr. Carin Craig and Leslie Stone. Thank you to all of the kind and loving people who attended and cared for Connie along the way and for her lifelong devoted friends.
Connie’s remarkable life was one of a kind and will forever be an inspiration. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of life is being planned for a future date.
