Edward Borsoi, 91, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026. He was born on March 6, 1934 in New Haven, CT and enjoyed a life filled with zigs and zags until he met his beloved wife, Louise. After finishing graduate school together and a short stint teaching at Wayne State, they relocated to Florida, where Ed became professor at Rollins College.
Throughout his life, Ed was an avid traveler, cook, cryptic crossword puzzle solver, movie watcher, and sports fan. He served for a while as Rollin’s academic representative to the NCAA. Among the family’s treasured possessions is an envelope of “Ed’s Recipes” including his famous paella.
After his retirement in 1999, Ed began a prolific career as a musician, starting with a CD of music focused on Christian matters called “The Spirits Got Me.” He moved on to writing librettos for plays he had translated. He released multiple albums under the name Ed’s Garage Band Songs, numbered volume by volume. He crafted songs of appreciation for Orlando - his adopted hometown, odes to love especially for his wife Louise, and observations of humanity. His email list always elicited a smile and his friends will miss the glee with which those would arrive in their inboxes.
For the last 7 years, Ed has been a resident of Orlando Lutheran Towers, where he got to spend time with old friends and make new ones too. He and Louise were once named the Mardi Gras King & Queen and the two of them enjoyed their regalia for a full year until it was time to pass it to the next couple. He also won an OLT “Oscar” for his music and musical programs - a wonderful way to share his passions for teaching and music with his friends.
Ed’s family acknowledges that he will be missed not only by them but by the countless students he taught, the friends he has made, and his extended family.
Ed is survived by his daughter Carla Borsoi (Jeff Rider), son Alexander Borsoi, and grand-daughters Grace Borsoi and Vivianne Reed.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, give a loved one un abrazo muy fuerte, send a donation to Orlando Lutheran Towers (https://www.orlandoseniorhealth.org/lutheran-towers-nonprofit-foundation/) or to Rollins College.
