

Elberto “Beto” Antonio Freay Amaya, 87, passed away on March 28, 2018 in Orlando, Florida. He was born on April 24, 1930 in Barranquiila, Colombia to Miguel Antonio Freay Bastidas and Ana Ines Amaya Arebalo.
For most of his life Beto resided in Hackensack, New Jersey until February 13, 2018 when he moved to Celebration, Florida to the home of his daughter Marbel Freay Locarno and her husband Juan Locarno. Beto was an auto mechanic by trade as well as a business owner, founder of the independence of Colombia Festival in Hackensack, NJ and a civic activist in his community. Beto was a hardworking, devoted family man who touched the lives of everyone he met.
Beto was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Miguel Alfredo Freay, Nicolas Miguel Freay and Antonio Jeronimo Freay along with his grandson Gregory Villegas. He is survived by his wife Sebastiana De Los Angeles “Angela” Freay, his children Ana Ines Villegas, Fernando Freay, Tony Freay, Adalberto Freay (Luz Marina), Jenny Freay (Orlando Villamizar), Edgardo Freay, Marbel Freay Locarno (Juan Locarno) and Maria Ana Sanchez (Camilo Sanchez), his brothers Luis Eduardo Freay and Alvaro Gabriel Freay, his sisters Ana Virginia Valencia, Ana Julia Fernandez, Ana Graciela Martinez Clark, Juana Nicolasa Freay and his grandchildren Karen Villegas, Jessica Villegas Sanchez, Sadie Villegas, Tania Freay, Vanessa Freay, Kathryn Marin, Carlos Marin, Adalberto Freay, Max Freay, Marisa Freay, Leah Freay, Brianna Freay, Sabrina Freay, Angela Maria Locarno, Jacqueline Locarno, Elizabeth Locarno, Sofia Sanchez and Camila Sanchez. Beto also leaves behind his great-grandchildren Dariana Villegas, Z'nai Villegas, Abel Bravo, Olivia Medina and Cassius Medina along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held at Family Funeral Care in Orlando, Florida on March 30, 2018 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service is set for 10:00am at Family Funeral Care on Saturday, March 31, 2018 with a graveside service taking place at Woodlawn Park Cemetery in Gotha, FL at 2:00pm.
