August 28, 1944 – June 30, 2025
Gerard “Jerry” Schneider, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Orlando, Florida, on June 30, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on August 28, 1944, to Pearl Harper and William “Bill” Schneider, Jerry spent his formative years in Baltimore. After graduating from high school, he attended vocational school before enlisting in the Army National Guard as a medic. He later began working at Maryland Cup, setting the foundation for a life marked by dedication and resilience.
In 1979, Jerry moved to Alamosa, Colorado with his first wife and their two young children. There, he served the community with pride as a member of the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Department. Later, he relocated to Orlando, Florida, where he found joy working in the Epcot Engineering Services Department at Walt Disney World—an opportunity that combined his mechanical expertise with his love for creativity.
Jerry had a love for photography, music, and cherished moments spent with family and friends. With his wry sense of humor and a smile that could light up any room, Jerry left a lasting impression on everyone he met. The friendships he built over the years—across different places and stages of life—reflect his kindness, loyalty, and sincere character.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen, his parents Pearl and Bill, and his brothers George and Joe. He is survived by his devoted daughter Paula Lanni (Domenic), his loving son Jason Schneider (Cory), and his dear sister Martha Welsh. Jerry’s legacy lives on in his grandchildren—Brittany Hedler (Jared), Katelyn Parr, Grayce Lanni, and Matthew Lanni—and his great-grandchildren, Ethan and Gavin Hedler. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Jerry was blessed to have neighbors Ewell and Bridget Carter, whose love and support extended far beyond the bounds of neighborly kindness—they became a part of his family.
Visitation will be held at Family Care Funeral Home, 13001 John Young Parkway, Orlando, Florida on Saturday, July 5, 2025 from 12:00 – 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, an organization close to their hearts.
Though Jerry may be gone from our sight, his laughter, love, and memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
