

At the age of 17, James earned his GED and soon after proudly enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country with honor for two years in the Army, two years in the Reserves, and 11 years in the United States Navy. Following his dedicated military service, James built a second career with Orange County Public Schools, where he worked for 14 years.
Beyond his professional life, James was a man of many passions. He loved fishing, recreational games such as Bingo, chess, and backgammon, and he never turned down a good game of cards. Above all, he was devoted to his family and cherished the time spent with them.
James shared 44 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Caryl A. Stokes. Together, they built a family filled with love and lasting memories. He is survived by his two daughters, Sheena Williams and Princess Lock, along with six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom were the joy of his life.
James will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his sense of humor, and the legacy of service and dedication he leaves behind. His presence will be deeply missed but forever treasured in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
