Jheanell was born in Kingston, Jamaica West Indies to parents Antonio & Zandra Reynolds. She was one of triplets. Both brothers Jerome & Jhealani as well as her parents pre-deceased her.
Her strength and resilience would eventually define her path. She was very determined to succeed, and she did. After graduating Alpha Academy High School in Jamaica at the age of 16 years old, she migrated to Miami, Florida. She would eventually attend Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.
In addition to her studies, she was very involved in various campus activities and organizations to include the Caribbean Student Association. Jheanell dedicated much of her time to help plan and organize multiple on and off campus events that would help to enrich the student experience. She also worked in the Admissions Office where she was well known and loved by the faculty and staff. She would create and develop some of her closest friendships during her tenure there. Jheanell would put her academic goals on hold for a couple years as she chose to become caretaker for her mother as she battled and eventually succumbed to cancer in 2008. She dug deep amid her unbearable grief, returned to college, and successfully completed her studies. She graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. What a feat!
Her professional work life was diverse. She worked in Florida as a Market Researcher in Oncological products and rare diseases; at coroner’s office where she assisted with autopsy procedures; and pediatric doctor’s offices (she loved kids); before moving to Pennsylvania to do research in Drugs and Consumer Products. She excelled in EVERY role and was always a team leader who became a role model to her peers. She never backed down from a challenge.
She took that same tenacity and applied it to her medical care. She did the research and asked pertinent questions when her doctors would discuss her various diagnoses. She studied every drug to learn the pros and cons before agreeing to take prescribed meds. When she talked to us, she sounded as if she was the doctor. So many times, we had to ask her to dumb it down a bit so we could understand. She was very intelligent and articulate; never skipped a beat; and was in total control of her care every step of the way. In her final days, the pain became unbearable, and the doctors were unable to provide viable solutions. She eventually transitioned peacefully without pain, under hospice care. Her work in this life is complete. She is now wrapped in God’s loving arms and is reunited with those who transitioned before her. In faith, we know we will see her again in eternity.
Jheanell is survived by her older brothers Dwayne & Rue and their wives and children who grew to love her dearly. All are simply heartbroken. She will be severely missed by her many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and extended family members, to include her beloved Shih Tsu mix Sparkle, who is now almost 17 years old! Jheanell also had a huge network of friends, many since childhood, and coworkers with whom she shared very special relationships. She has left a void there too. So many broken hearts, so many who loved and cherished her unconditionally. So young, so precious, so beautiful. She will forever live in our hearts. Gone but NEVER forgotten. Sleep in eternal peace Jheanell.
Final arrangements entrusted to Baldwin Fairchild Alternatives in Orlando, Florida. Celebration of Life for Jheanell will be Friday July 28th at 10:00am, Plantation Baptist Church 11700 NW 28th Court Plantation FL 33323.
