

Michael Charles Patrick was welcomed home by our Lord on Tuesday the 16th of July. He was surrounded by Family at the time of his passing and will be missed by all. Born 25 November 1942, Michael Patrick was raised in the D.C. area living in Greenbelt, Gettysburg Pa., and Clifton, Va. He graduated High Point High School in 1960 and pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering at University of Maryland. He was active with the ROTC program with intentions of a career in the U.S. Air Force until a car accident forced a change in his goals. He married his High School Sweetheart Suzanne Louise Landis in September of 1963 and Graduated University of Maryland with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1965. He joined IBM and began a career for the Federal Systems Division. He achieved his Masters Degree from University of Maryland George Washington Campus in 1971 while raising a family (his two sons Douglas ‘67 and Christopher ’69). He performed amazing feats for the company, traveling the world, and earning many awards and accolades working for the Galileo Space Program, the Japanese Publishing System, the Department of Defense, and the National Security Agency. He took his family to Europe during the 1980’s to assist the Department of Defense design a Communications, Command and Control system utilizing Globally Positioned Satellites that later became the Global Positioning System (GPS) that is used by everyone today. He returned to the Gaithersburg area, where his career took him from IBM to Loral, to Lockheed Martin where he supported the Department of Defense as a European Liaison to other European Defense agencies and companies. He retired from Lockheed Martin in 2011 continuing to travel the world and engage in civic support. He was a Layperson for the Calvary United Methodist Church from 1968 until his health forced him to leave the D.C. area in 2012 and live with his son in Orlando until his passing.
In 2009 Mike remarried to Lynne Lundie a freind of both he and Suzanne had met over in Europe. Although the marrige ended in Divorce, she remained a close and loving friend.
