Rubén “Rubencito” Flores Agrait, 42, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on November 4, 2025, held in the arms and prayers of those who loved him most. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 1413 Semoran Blvd, Orlando, FL 32807.
Rubén was born on February 9, 1983, in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, where he grew up surrounded by warm family, loud laughter, and the island’s rhythm that never left his heart. Those who knew him early understood quickly that he was destined to move through life with intensity and purpose.
He pursued his education with the same passion that he applied to everything he loved. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Master of Science in Environmental Management, a Master in
Healthcare Administration, and ultimately fulfilled the dream that shaped him most deeply—becoming a Doctor of Medicine. During those years, he joined Phi Eta Mu Fraternity, gaining brothers for life.
Rubén lived many lives in one. He moved through phases the way others move through seasons—fully, boldly, fearlessly. At different points he was a punk rocker, a surfer, a boat tour guide, an animal keeper at a zoo, and a man of adventure and mischief. But the role that didn’t just fit him, but completed him, was being a doctor. Nothing made him feel more whole than caring for his patients, advocating for them, going the extra mile even when nobody saw it. He tried to present himself as tough, detached, and strong—but the truth was the opposite. Rubén felt everything deeply. He cared more than he ever admitted. He loved harder than he ever showed.
Music was one of the purest windows into his soul. His playlists were never tied to a genre but to meaning—lyrics that spoke truth, pain, hope, rebellion, faith. If a song said something real, something
raw, something that lived between the lines, Rubén felt it. He carried music like a compass.
Rubén met Cristine in medical school, and what began as a connection grew into a twelve-year story that was real, imperfect, and unbreakable. Their friendship was always the core, no matter the storms they faced. In 2016, they welcomed their son Joaquín, the light of Rubén’s life. On August 31, 2025, they sealed their commitment in marriage.
Rubén was also the father of Esteban (born 2009), whom he shared with Kayra Sambolín. Their shared journey remained grounded in respect and support.
On September 24, 2024, everything changed. Rubén entered a battle that he fought with strength and discipline. He continued cycling, exercising, and pushing his body even during illness. His resilience
was spiritual. He found refuge in the Book of Jacob. Rubén loved the beach, long bike rides, early mornings, and the open road. He had a hidden “inner nerd” who loved Star Wars. He was fierce and gentle, private and loyal.
Above all, Rubén was a father.
His own words to his sons live forever: “I will always love you both with all my life. You are extraordinary boys, and I am so proud to be your dad. You will always have me, wherever I am. Just call, and I will come to your rescue. I love you both, always.”
He also carried a profound love for his friends—a group that shared countless memories together, the kind you’re grateful were made before social media existed. They were more than friends; they were family. They stood by him through every step, with loyalty, laughter, and love. That was Rubén—known by the love he gave and the lasting impact he left on people’s lives. Today, we celebrate that.
Rubén is survived by his wife, Cristine Arana Rivera; his sons, Esteban and Joaquín; his mother, Wilma Agrait; his father, Rubén E. Flores; his sister, Gretchen Flores; and extended family and friends.
“As his niece said: God called him to heal the wings of the angels.”
