Wow, this guy was such a great "loves other humans" kind of person.  The obit did not mention this, but it's interesting that he grew up in an old Florida area North of Tampa, the Land 'o' Lakes area.  I've heard a few stories of his growing up years, and they were not boring!   It seems he and his two brothers--whom he loved--were tusslers in their salad days, as they fought and scrapped with each other (as brothers tend to do).  

While possessing a very sharp wit and being of high intelligence, Russell also had a soft, gracious side.   He really loved his whole family, and was supportive of all of them.  He was also our closest neighbor--and we could never in a million years had a better neighbor.  Both he and Laura were a joy to know, and will be sorely missed.   

We will see them again in Heaven, and what an awesome, beautiful and joyous comfort to keep in mind.  Dear Russell: life is short, but the glory and the sweetness of eternal life is forever.

Sending prayers for the family for peace during this sad time. Keep the good memories close to your heart. Russ loved his family...I could just see and feel the love he had for his family any time we would visit.  He always included Steve and myself at any get-togethers and made us feel a part of the family. He will be greatly missed. 

I got to know Russell when I started working at Windsor at Celebration where he was a resident. Even on his worst days he would have something funny to say and with a smile. I remember one day he snuck up on me at my desk. I said, “Hi”!  Russell’s response was, “I wish I was”.  We both laughed and I gave him a Reese’s Cup. He will be greatly missed. The best part is I got to know his daughter Linda. Oh, how she loves her daddy. 

I will always remember the love and kindness Russell and Laura always gave to me, I miss them both Dearly. I remember how excited Russell was to spend this day with me and the Boys to tell us all about the planes was an awesome day!

Grandpa always has the biggest smile while with family.  I will forever cherish the time spent at this table throug my entire life talking and laughing with this amazing man.  He truly made everyone feel welcome and a part of our family.  

 The memories I have of Russell and Laura will never be forgotten.  They opened their home to all of us and rarely said “no” to anything requested upon them.  Russell always appreciated any event that brought his friends and family to his doorstep.  He was one of a kind, always spoke bluntly, and never left you guessing about what he was thinking.  Goodbye Russ and Laura.

What a special person. Russell would make anyone in the room feel like a part of the family. Always ready to tell anyone stories about the trucking days or the travels him and Laura took during their years together. I will never forget the special place in my heart for this man I know as “grandpa”. I know he will rest easy now that he is with his beloved Laura again. We miss and love you grandpa.
