Ruth Colon

Ruth Colon, 75, of Orlando, died Monday, September 30, 2013. She was born to the late Henrietta and Michaelangelo Virella, Jan. 5, 1938, in Manhattan, NY. Ruth graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1955. She married Franklin Colon in 1959. She relocated to Orlando, FL in 1988. Ruth worked in banking until she retired in 2000. Ruth was an active member of the Church of God Cathedral of Hope. She loved to travel and play Scrabble at the Beardall Senior Center in Orlando, FL.

Ruth is survived by two children: Nelson and Paul Colon who reside in Orlando, FL with their wives Lolly and Evelyn. She also is survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the American Cancer Society, Central Florida Chapter for Team Hope.

A viewing will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday October 2, 2013, at the Church of God Cathedral of Hope located at 7600 Winegard Rd. Orlando, FL 32809. Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 3, 2013, at Greenwood Cemetery.
