Santina Greco Garland

GARLAND, SANTINA, was born in Jeanette, PA on April 26, 1918 to Italian immigrant parents. At the age of two she and her family moved hack to Italy for seven years. When they returned to the U.S. it was to stay and this very bright and studious student progressed readily through the school system until economic conditions required that she leave school and go to work. The educational opportunity she missed did not keep her from succeeding as wife, mother, grandparent and great grandparent. She was a tower of strength and a boundless source of energy to all that knew her and turned to her for support. No request for support was ever rejected. Santina taught by example, not by preaching. She retired to Florida and quickly established her identity as a master cook. Her reputation can be summed up by the popularity of the cannoli she used to make at Christmas time. They were the signature item of the annual Christmas night open house celebration. We can only hope that her five grandchildren and her eight great grand children have inherited her commitment to service and her talent in the kitchen. Santina is survived by her son, Joseph Greco (wife Gail) of Hollis, N.H. and Marie Aiello (husband Gene) of Orlando Florida; five grand daughters,

Susan DeBassio, Lynda Murphy, Kimberly Aldinger, Paula Greco and Amy Aiello; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband's Mario

Greco and Joseph Garland. A Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 4545 Last Anderson Road, Orlando, FL 32812 on Saturday, February 19 at 11:00 a,m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Carey Hand Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Rd., Orlando will he handling the arrangements. careyhandcolonialfh. com. Perhaps a recent comment by a friend accurately sums up who Santina was "she had a long life and was a wonderful person". There may be no greater compliment.
