Vera Vivian Pierce was born April 27, 1929, the daughter of Clarence and Irma Peck. The younger sister to Anita, older sister to Rodney, Vera married Ellsworth “Pete” Fred Pierce on August 1, 1948. Vera and Pete had 3 sons, Jeff in 1953, Ryan in 1957 and Scott in 1961.
She is survived by Scott, her granddaughter, Jessica, grandson, Jade, great grandsons, Morgan and Korbin, great great grandchildren, Gunner and Reign, as well as several nieces, nephews and a sister in law. Her granddaughter, Melinda, daughter of Jeff, was unjustly taken from us in 2014.
Her son, Jeff was born in Vermont, Ryan in South Carolina and then in 1959, they moved to Taft, Florida. She raised her 3 sons while learning the Real Estate business and wisely invested in properties in and around the Taft area. She was active in the community, being the Treasurer for Take Actions for Taft, for many years. In the early 1970’s, she was briefly acting President of Taft Little League Baseball, when Gerald Dominey (the President at the time) moved before the season was complete.
She was an avid crafter, who sold her creations once a month, off of Marks Street in Orlando, where she made even more friends. She also did shows at two churches and received great joy from the students that looked for her table each year around Christmas.
She, along with her husband, made many friends and gave quite a few people the opportunity to buy and own their own homes. Her wisdom and wit will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life for Vera will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Church of Jesus Christ, 9521 6th Ave., Taft, FL 32824.
