He leaves his wife, Frances, of 67 years, his 3 daughters, 6 granddaughters, 2 grandsons and a great granddaughter. Born and raised in Chicago he was the son of William and Alice Nelson. In his early years Mr. Nelson worked along side his father for Coca Cola and then helped his parents in their Christian Book Store. After High School he attended Bob Jones University, graduating in 1950 with a Bachelors degree in Religious Studies. He met his wife Frances Floyd at Bob Jones and they were married in 1952 after he finished his Graduate work at Bob Jones. They did Interim Missionary work in the hills of SE Kentucky until he attended Western Seminary for a Masters degree in Divinity. Reverend Nelson served churches in Casnovia, Michigan, Chicago, Illinois, Lincoln, Nebraska and Orlando, Florida. After 25 year in the ministry he retired and then worked another 20 years in computer management for AT&T. He never gave up his first love, ministry, continuing to preach and teach bible classes in area churches and hotels, doing weddings and funerals. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson enjoyed travel and were able to visit several world destinations they had dreamed of seeing. Mr. Nelson also enjoyed reading about WWII and had a great love of airplanes and flying. Most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. A funeral service will be held December 1 with a 2:00 PM showing and 2:30 Celebration of Life at 5281 Central Florida Parkway. Central Parkway Baptist Church. There will be a reception following at the church.
