

Anthony E. Gorczyca, 90 of Orleans died on April 1, 2010 at Cape Cod Hospital. Born in Franklin, NJ to Sophia and Stanley Gorczyca, Anthony graduated from Rutgers University and received his master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin. He served in the O.S.S as a Tech Sgt., in China during World War II. Anthony worked as a bank examiner for the Treasurer Dept. for 30 years. After retiring in 1983, he and his wife bought a home in Orleans, where they had vacationed.
Besides his beloved wife, C. Elizabeth (Bart), Anthony is survived by daughters, Clairli Thrower and her husband Richard of SC, and Margi Gorczyca, of SC, his son-in-law, Harry Godbey and his 4 grandchildren Rick and Amy Thrower and Anthony and Brady Godbey. He was predeceased by his daughter Betsy Godbey.
Anthony was a member of the Orleans Rotary Club for 50 years, the Orleans Yacht Club, the Historical Society, and a communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church. He loved woodworking, gardening, bird carving, fishing, and golfing. During its renovation, he worked on the Old Windmill in Orleans.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Anthony on Tuesday, April 6 at 11:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Church, Canal Rd., Orleans followed by burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne, MA at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be held on Monday April 5 from 5 – 7 PM at the Nickerson Funeral Home, Eldredge Park Way Orleans.
