

Audrey P. (Driscoll) Moran a longtime resident of Eastham, MA passed away peacefully on August 11, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 83. Audrey was the loving wife of Dr. Joseph F. Moran, Jr. for 58 wonderful years.
Audrey was predeceased by her parents William and Doris (Drugan) Driscoll. She was born in Taunton, MA and graduated from Taunton High School in 1947. Audrey graduated from Morton Hospital School of Nursing and worked at Cape Cod Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and St. Joseph's Hospital in South Bend, IN.
Audrey married Joseph on June 18, 1955 and began their wonderful life together. They raised five children and have six grandchildren. Mom was always available for trips to the bog for winter skating, to the beach in the summer or pickups at the high school after activities or track practice. There was time for scouts and homework advice (just finish it!). Family vacations were spent in the outdoors camping in at Nickerson on the Cape and throughout New England and Canada. After Joseph retired, they traveled here and there in their Airstream RV visiting lots of state, national and provincial parks.
Audrey was a devoted mother who taught her children to care about others and to be involved in projects to make our world a better place. Audrey led by example hosting Fresh Air kids and Foreign Exchange students, volunteering at the Kennedy Center for mentally challenged children in Bridgeport, CT and initiating the first Spelling Bee at the Nauset Middle School as a member of the Orleans Woman's Club. Audrey was very involved with her church community as well. She was one of the founders of the St. Joan of Arc Conference of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society in 1991, and with a small group started the Holiday Food program of SVdP. On her retirement in 2007, she was honored with the "Top Hat" award for "Outstanding Vincentian service ".
Audrey is survived by her husband, Joseph; children Kathleen Moran-Wallace and her husband William of Methuen, John Moran and Bridget Moran of Eastham, Mary Moran-Chenevert and husband Donald of Harwich, and Brian Moran and wife Emmy Hahn of Marblehead; grandchildren, Rev.Christopher Wallace of Lowell, Michael Wallace of Methuen, Jill and Timothy Chenevert of Harwich, Cecelia Moran and Joseph Moran of Marblehead , her brother Dr. John Driscoll and wife Sandra of Kingston, her brothers-in-law Dr. James P. Moran and wife Phyllis of Eastham and Nettle's Island, FL and Dr. Robert F. Moran and wife Maryanne of Methuen as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family will gather for a Mass in Celebration of Audrey's life on Friday, August 16, 2013, at 10:00 am in Saint Joan of Arc Church, 61 Canal Road, Orleans, MA. Her visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 4-7p.m., in the Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA 02653. Private burial services will take place at a later date.
