For 35 years he worked loyally as an insurance executive for Connecticut General which later became CIGNA, in various locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts. He graduated from St John’s Prep in Brooklyn NY and went on to receive a bachelors degree in accounting from Niagara University. Upon graduating in 1951, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army where he served active duty during the Korean War for 2 years. Charlie was a big believer in service. He enjoyed 29 years of retirement and filled a good portion of that volunteering his time to others. He held many roles at St. Joan of Arc and was awarded the Marian Medal for his dedicated service to the Church. For years in the Orleans community he volunteered with the Council of Aging, Meals on Wheels, Nauset Neighbors and FISH.
Perhaps Charlie's favorite pastime, however, was time spent with family and friends. He was a true family man, devoted husband and was a wonderful role model to his kids and all who knew him. He always believed there were two lasting gifts you could give your children, one is roots, the other is wings. He and Alice traveled extensively over the years, but when they were home he busied himself sailing, playing tennis and bridge with friends, working in his beautiful yard, catching a football or baseball game on television, playing Scrabble, or just sitting on the deck hosting a gathering and taking in the lovely setting he called home.
