Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, to Darrel and Evelyn Badger, Dave built a life rooted in love for family, and loyalty to friends. A proud 1958 graduate of Pittsfield High School, he later lived for many years in Naugatuck and Clinton, Connecticut, before making his final home in North Eastham, Massachusetts.
Before beginning his professional career, Dave served in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his lifelong values of discipline, service, and quiet strength. After his military service, he attended Boston University and Quinnipiac College, where he played baseball—sharing his talent, competitive spirit, and closeness with teammates who remained important to him throughout his life.
Dave spent his career as an IT professional, dedicating himself to a field he found both challenging and endlessly fascinating. He worked for several leading defense contractors, including Sikorsky, General Dynamics’ Electric Boat Division, and Computer Sciences Corporation. Though his work took him across the country, nowhere meant more to him than home.
A devoted follower of all New England sports, Dave’s enthusiasm was unmistakable. He cheered faithfully for the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins, approaching every season with optimism and passion. He held a special, lifelong love for UConn women’s basketball, a team he followed with pride and joy. He also played softball for most of his adult life and enjoyed fishing and golf. Above all, he was a dedicated fan of his sons’ and grandchildren’s sporting activities, taking great joy in watching them play.
Dave deeply cherished his years on Cape Cod. He loved the quiet beauty of North Eastham, the ocean air, and the sense of community that made the Cape feel like home. Some of his happiest moments were spent at his favorite local spots—Coast Guard Beach, Fairway, and The Beachcomber—places that became part of the rhythm of his life.
He was an avid reader, especially fond of murder-mystery and suspense novels by authors such as James Patterson, Clive Cussler, and Stephen King. He often found comfort and escape in their stories during quieter moments.
Dave held a deep fondness for his close friends, whose companionship, humor, and loyalty enriched his life in countless ways. He was also surrounded by a large and loving extended family, and he cherished his many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Dave’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Deborah; his sons, Michael and Stephen; Michael’s wife, Andrea; Stephen’s wife, Belinda; his cherished grandchildren, Alex and Michaela; his beloved sister, Elaine; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Dave leaves behind a legacy of kindness, good humor, and quiet strength. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of David's life will be held on Saturday March 7, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA 02653
