Eastham- Edward “Eddie” Roza, formerly of Provincetown and Truro, passed away on February 11, 2013 after a long illness. A loving husband, son, brother, uncle, godfather, friend and neighbor, he will be missed by all who knew him.
Eddie is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Lucille K. Roza, along with several nieces and nephews.
Eddie honorably served in the Army during WWII. He made his living as a carpenter—building, maintaining and beautifying hundreds of homes on the Outer Cape. In the 1940’s and 1950’s, he performed at numerous Provincetown Clubs as a guitarist with the Cape Tones. Eddie was a charter and lifetime member of the Truro Rescue Squad, which was established in 1966. During his 25 years as a volunteer, he served as the Deputy Fire Chief, the Acting Chief, and a member of the Board of Fire Engineers. He was extremely proud to be part of the town’s efforts to build its current fire station.
The family wishes to thank the VNA Hospice, and Eastham’s Fire Department and COA for their care and support during Eddie’s illness.
A celebratory mass will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Lourdes Church in Wellfleet, followed by fellowship in the Parish Hall. A private burial will be held in the spring. Anyone wishing to do so may make a memorial donation to the charity of one’s choosing, or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
