Hi Mike - So sorry to hear about Jane's passing and your family's loss.    I certainly remember spending time at your house in the 90s during July 4th weekend with Steve and the rest of the Cornell boys - Jane's stuffed quahogs were the best!   The last time we were up your way, my older son was able to meet you and Jane but it has to have been ten years ago.  We have lots of great memories with you and Jane and our thoughts are with you.

It says a lot about a person when you move into a neighborhood and hear so many nice things about someone who is in the process of saying “a long goodbye” to her family. I never got to talk with her, but loved how she would watch me as I tended my gardens and planted trees at my new house. Her joy was so touching - I could feel her connection.  
May Mike and his family find peace in knowing she is free and watching over them. And as her gardens wake up this spring, I’m sure she is nurturing them and telling her family “I’m here”.

Jane was an absolutely wonderful person.   Always pleasant and fun to be with.   A fabulous wife, mom and friend.. The best chef I've ever met.  Also an amazing gardener .   So many fantastic memories! Gone too soon and greatly missed.  Love you Janeypie!

I don’t think I ever heard Jane raise her voice. She was the most patient, thoughtful person. Never reactive or ego-driven, Jane responded from her heart. Many of my well-intentioned friends might slam me out of the blue, but not Jane. Jane was kind, expressing her feelings gently, never with opinionated views, judgments, or a bad word about anyone. Jane never gossiped. Who doesn’t gossip? I’ve spent 35 years cultivating a neutral, kind mind, and Jane was naturally wired that way. Mike called her his angel. Jane certainly was that.

I last saw Jane briefly in 2018 after our 40th high school reunion. It wasn’t enough time, and I wanted to see her again. Michael had asked me to visit and stay a while, help care for her, and get to know her again. I had wanted to do that; meet Jane and reestablish a friendship. Do art with her. I imagined the projects I would show her, mono-prints for one. I imagined her delight, and the two of us focused and laughing as time flew by. 
Well, time did fly by, and it never happened. Bogged down with three cats and other things that keep one rooted where they are, I never made it out of California. Waiting is my one regret. 
But I have many sweet memories and photos of us together back in the day. And what I remember most is Jane’s hospitality and flare for cooking. Jane made the best granola, dribbled it with honey, and baked it in the oven. Mike and Jane’s house was a sort of headquarters for all of us who would regularly gather to drink, talk politics, and listen to a friend sing and play guitar into the wee hours of the night. All the nights I slept over at their house in Torrington will always be remembered. A pajama party at Jane’s. I slept late in the morning and smelled the coffee and breakfasts Jane would be cooking in the kitchen. Jane always fed me!  
RIP, dear Jane. I hope your passing was peaceful and your journey is blessed with prayer and love. And I hope you drop in to visit Michael. 
I know you will.

Both my husband and I worked with Jane at nauset. Ed as an administrator and I was the guidance secretary. I would love to sneak up to her classroom for a treat. She was a great educator and loved what she did. Having MCi and dementia in my family I know what your family has been through. God bless
