Born in Long branch New Jersey on November 3, 1959, she was the daughter of George V Brown and Amelia (Scheck) Brown. She grew up camping and skiing with her family and also enjoyed horseback riding. Kelly graduated from Walpole high school in 1977 and on May 20, 1978 she married her high school sweetheart David Wood, beginning a lifelong partnership, rooted in love, friendship and devotion. Kelly and David lived in Walpole until they moved their family to Orleans in 1989.
For more than 25 years, Kelly worked for the town of Orleans parks and beaches department, mostly at the administration building at Nauset Beach. She formed lifelong friendships and became a beloved presence to colleagues, beachgoers, and the community.
Kelly was an avid beach glass collector and loved fishing and going to the beach and ponds with her family. Many great memories were made while spending time together. Kelly’s greatest joy was her family. Her husband, children and grandchildren were the center of her world. She went to every school event and sporting event for her children and her grandchildren. Kelly was an amazing cook, known for meals, made with love, which always brought family and friends together. She always had a snack bag full of goodies at games, the beach, and anywhere that friends and family gathered. Kelly also enjoyed sitting outside in any season, watching the birds and critters at her feeders.
Above all, Kelly will be remembered for her kindness. She was the nicest, most caring person, someone who made everyone feel welcome and loved. In Orleans and the surrounding towns, everyone knew her and adored her. Her presence touched, countless lives, and her absence will be felt deeply. She’ll be forever missed by her family, friends, and the community that adored her.
